While some kids were on zoom doing #homeschool today we went on full zoom in mode with the camera to capture the baby seal that was born last night... can’t stand the cuteness!!! #sfbay #natureisawesome #getoutside #babyseal #springtime #boatschool #quarantinelife #somethingpositive #finedayforsailing #beautifulsfbay

Sound ON! Something to smile about... Today we listened to and watched a brand new baby harbor seal crying to be nursed by his mother just behind our boat and soaked in the cuteness. Later this evening I heard a voice that sounded so human coming from behind the boat that I rushed out to see if someone was in trouble and discovered a second baby seal had just been born and if you listen to the end of the first clip (in the darkness) you will hear him... incredibly like a human baby! The clarity of the air without pollution due to #covid19 #isolation made it possible to see the mama and baby in the dark very clearly hopping onto the dock and although we don’t enjoy the smell of them so nearby, it’s a sweet comforting sight to see new life #springtime #babyseal #cute #newborn #sfbay #finedayforsailing

I learned today that the Coast Miwok called this bay “rainbow bay” before it was known as Richardson Bay. Rainbows have always reminded me that nature will prevail and is not to be altered for our benefit. However far I sail around the world I will always call this bay home, mostly because of the rainbows. I’m dedicating this one to my very dear @miekeate working on the front lines of this #pandemic #stayhealthy #staystrong #sendingyouarainbow #sailingfamily #myhomeisyourhomealways
